Children, Youth, and Families
Welcome to Saint Paul’s! At Saint Paul’s we offer a full range of programming for families to encounter God’s awesome Love, build a relationship with Jesus Christ, learn God’s Story, and have fun! We strive to include children, youth, and families in all aspects of parish life.
Christian Formation and Education (Pre-K through 12th Grade)
God excites our curiosity and at Saint Paul’s, we aim to nurture this curiosity in children of all ages. Our Children, Youth, and Family formation opportunities capture children’s imaginations as they encounter God’s Story and learn how they can follow Jesus Christ in their own lives.
Sunday School (Pre-K through 5th Grade): Saint Paul’s offers Sunday School classes each week from October through May. Classes meet in the Sunday School room in the Saint Andrew’s House (199 Carroll Street) on Sundays from 10:00 am to 10:40 am. During Sunday School, children experience God’s Story through playacting, conversations, and crafts. During the 2025-2026 program year, we are exploring Creation with seasonal lessons on Advent, Lent, and Easter.
Clinton Street Youth Group (6th Grade through 12th Grade): Saint Paul’s combines with Christ Church Cobble Hill and Saint Ann and the Holy Trinity for a monthly gathering of youth from 6th Grade through 12th Grade. This gathering offers youth an opportunity to meet youth from other churches and engage in a service project. Contact Father Jenkins for more information.
Worship (All Ages)
Our 11:00 am Solemn High Mass (10:00 am Sung Mass during the Summer months) is the center of our life together. We believe that all people–no matter their age–are a part of this. For children who might need a little help staying engaged during Mass, we have several opportunities:
Nursery Care (6 months through 5 years old): We provide childcare during Mass in the Sunday School room in the Saint Andrew’s Parish House (199 Carroll St) for children five years old and under. Parents can drop their children off beginning at 10:45 am and pick them up during the Agnus Dei so that we can all make our Holy Communion together.
Worship Bags (3 years old and up): We have bags located in the back of the Nave with coloring pages, crayons, playdough, and pipe cleaners so that children can have something to keep their hands busy as they participate in Mass. Ask an usher for a worship bag as you come in.
Play Space (3 years old and up): We have a “Pray ground” on the left side of the Nave for children to engage in quiet play. There are soft blocks and picture books.
Acolyte during Mass (4th Grade and up): Children in Fourth Grade and above are invited to serve as acolytes during Solemn High Mass. This gives them an opportunity to see what is happening at the altar close up. Acolytes learn about the different components that go into Mass and why we worship God the way we do.
Seasonal Liturgies (All Ages): We offer family-oriented liturgies throughout the year, including a Service of Crèche and Carols on the Last Sunday of Advent and Stations of the Cross for Families on Good Friday. These liturgies help introduce children to some of the most important parts of our tradition and key points in Jesus’ life.
