THE SCHEDULE FOR FR. CULLEN'S LAST MASS

Sunday, September 10, The Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost

  • 9:30 a.m. the congregation gathers in the inner yard of St. Stephen’s – Sacred Hearts Roman Catholic Church (enter on Carroll Street near Hicks Street) for prayers on the spot where our congregation first worshipped). 
  • 9:45 a.m. After the renewal of our Baptismal Vows and Prayers, we will process down Carroll to Clinton Street, passing the cornerstone laid in 1867.
  • 10:00 a.m. At the church porch the Rector will return the keys of the church to the parish Wardens who will open the West Doors and lead the congregation into the church for mass.
  • 10:10 a.m. Low Mass with Hymns. Readings: Psalm 118, Exodus 12:1-14, Matthew 18:15-20
  • Preaching: The Rev. Peter Cullen, Sometime Rector of St. Paul’s
  • First Communion: Luke Winters 

SEPTEMBER SERVICES

  • September 17: The Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost:  Mass Readings:  Exodus 14: 19-31; Matthew 18: 21-35; Preaching: The Rev. Linwood Garrenton
  • September 24: The Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost:  Jazz@Mass, and the last Sunday of 10:00 a.m. summer mass schedule!  Mass Readings: Exodus 16: 2-15; Matthew 20: 1-16;  Preaching: The Rev. Robert Griffith 

COMING UP AT ST. PAUL’S

  • October 1: Fall Mass Schedule Resumes at 11:00 a.m. (No Sunday School) Blessing of the Animals at St. Stephen’s Church.
  • October 8: Sunday School resumes. 

HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF

  • Please consider donating to the Hurricane Harvey Response Fund and provide emergency assistance to people recovering from the impact of this storm. Look for the jar at the back of the church and on the counter at coffee hour for your donations. Thank you.

RENOVATION OF ST. ANDREW’S HOUSE FIRST FLOOR

  • We are happy to report that both the renovation work and contributions are right on target!
  • It’s not too late to donate to this project. Please contact our treasurer, Nick Mancino, or any member of the vestry.
  • Volunteer parishioners are signing up to clean and prepare the rooms for a full season of church and community use; will you help? Workdays are scheduled for Saturday, September 23, and Saturday, September 30. Contact the parish office if you can help us. 

ALSO IN THE PARISH HALL

  • Local artist, Joseph Milazzo, will be exhibiting a series of portraits that he painted after recently visiting Cuba. These works will be exhibited in the Parish Hall on September 16th and 23rd from 1-11:30 pm. Admission $10.
