This Saturday, November 8th is our 26th Annual Auction.
The festivities start at 6:00 p.m. with dinner and the Silent Auction. At 8 o’clock, our staff will serve dessert, we will draw the ticket for the Treasure Chest, and the Live Auction will begin. A few seats remain, but they are going fast. Please contact Rob Snyder (firstname.lastname@example.org 718-499-8074) to purchase tickets. If you would like to help with the auction, contact Madge Willner, John Lord, Sandy Miller, or Jenni Kessler.
Adult Christian Education in November
Sunday, Nov. 9. “Reading the Church: Symbolism in the Art and Architecture at St. Paul’s.” Join us after Coffee Hour for a narrated tour of St. Paul’s led by parishioner Sheryl Jordan, an architect and former stained glass artist. If you have small children, we can arrange to have the nursery tended to during the Adult Christian Education program, but we need to know in advance so arrangements can be made. Thank you! (Email me at email@example.com.)
Saturday, Nov. 22 SPECIAL EVENT: “St. Mark’s Gospel.” An oral performance by parishioner and Lectors Guild member Christopher Johnson of the Gospel according to St. Mark, as it might have been given in a private home in first-century Rome. (7:30 p.m. Admission $20, Seniors and Students $15. This is a fund raiser for church ceiling repairs.)
Sunday, Nov. 23. “Learning St. Mark’s Gospel.” Q&A with Christopher Johnson about his performance.
November Volunteer Opportunities
During the month, we are again collecting donations to help stock the shelves of the food pantry at First Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn Heights. Much appreciated would be items such as tuna, Vienna sausages, Chef Boyardee meals, canned fruit, canned vegetables, applesauce, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, cereal, juice, snacks, crackers, and soups. In addition, toiletries such as soap, shampoo, etc. are accepted. Bins that have been beautifully decorated by our enthusiastic Sunday School students have been placed at the back of the church to receive your donations during the month of November. Please feel free to speak with Jean Del Colliano if you have any questions.
This year, St. Paul’s will partner with the Good Shepherd Services/Miccio Center for a special community outreach event. On Tuesday, November 18th at 4:30 p.m. we will meet at St. Paul’s and walk the few blocks to PS 676 (27 Huntington Street) and will serve Thanksgiving Dinner and have an evening of fellowship with our neighbors in Red Hook. We encourage you to bring the entire family. You may contact Seth Edwards, Michael Eckblad, or any member of the Vestry to volunteer or get more details.
Nils Roest RIP
Following mass on November 9th, the ashes of former parishioner Nils Roest will be placed in the columbarium. All who wish to attend this brief committal service are invited to join the clergy at the rear of the church before going to coffee hour and adult Christian education.
