THIS COMING SUNDAY

March 22, 2015; The Fifth Sunday in Lent

  • SUNDAY'S APPOINTED MASS READINGS: Jeremiah 31:31-34; Psalm 119:9-16; Hebrews 5:5-10; John 12:20-33; Preaching:  The Rector
  • LENTEN FOOD DRIVE:  Our Sunday School students wish to remind us all that bins for receiving nonperishable foods have been placed in the rear of the church.  On Good Friday, foods collected during Lent will be delivered by the students to the Food Pantry at First Presbyterian, Brooklyn Heights.  Especially needed are proteins such as peanut butter, canned tuna and salmon, etc.
  •  STUDY Mass ACE invites all to join them in the Church for their final session of Lenten classes focusing on THE TABERNACLE in the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures and worship. 

PREPARATIONS FOR HOLY WEEK AND EASTER

  • ALL PARISH CLEAN-UP DAY— March 28, 9am to 3pm:  This Saturday there is something for everyone to do when it comes to cleaning the Church for the coming Holy Days.  Beginning at 9am there are special tasks for people of all ages and abilities.  At noon food will be served for the workers, then beginning after lunch there is work for those with strong backs who can help mop the church floor.  More information and a sign-up sheet are available at today’s Coffee Hour.  Contact Madge Willner if you have any questions.
  • HOLY WEEK MASS SCHEDULE: 
    Palm Sunday, March 29, Liturgy at 11:00;
    Holy Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Morning Prayer at 7:30;
    Maundy Thursday, Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:30 p.m.;
    Good Friday, Liturgy at Noon; Stations of the Cross for children at 5:30 p.m.;
    Holy Saturday / Easter Eve, The Great Vigil at 7:30 p.m.;
    Easter Day, Solemn Mass at 11:00 a.m.  Confessions by appointment with a priest. 

SPECIAL CONCERTS

  • Ensemble Companio, this Saturday, March 21, at 8:00 p.m.  This exciting vocal group is proud to announce its performance entitled ‘Love’s Faces’. The program features works by Arcadelt, Passereau, Stainer, Duruflé, Lars-Erik Larsson, and a commission by Vince Peterson; arrangements of popular music by The Beatles, Billy Joel, and Randy Newman; and folk music from around the globe.  For ticket information visit their website at www.ensemblecompanio.org .
