DEAR FRIENDS

We have a simultaneously sad and joyous event at mass this Sunday.  Julie Mullins, who has been attending St. Paul’s faithfully since January of 2017, has taken another job and is moving to Louisville, KY.  This Sunday will be her last Sunday with us, and we are taking this opportunity to do the Blessing of a Departing Parishioner service.  It’s a short, simple service which provides us a liturgical way to thank her for her part in our common life in Christ, to say goodbye, and to ask God’s blessing upon her as she embarks upon this new phase of her life.  Julie has worked in several ministries during her time with us, including service on the Search Committee, to which she has been faithful and diligent even after she knew she was moving away.  In addition to the Blessing service, I have allowed Julie to choose her favorite hymns for Sunday.  She has been a valuable part of our St. Paul’s community, and I know you will want to be here on Sunday to say goodbye.

See you at Mass (at 10:00 am) on Sunday.
Fr. Wallace

CONGRATULATIONS! WE’RE ALMOST HALFWAY THERE!

To date have in hand or pledges totaling $13,570, almost halfway to our goal of $28,000 for our Capital Campaign.  The renovation of the third-floor apartment is complete.  Thank you for doing your part to put St. Andrew’s House in order. This much needed work will create a safer and more flexible building to better serve the needs of the parish and wider community for years to come.

The total cost of the renovation is $56,000.  The good news:  we only need to raise half of that: $28,000.  Why?  We received a grant from the Diocese last year, and one parish family pitched in more. With $28,000 in the bank, half of our expenses have already been met.

Our goal is to match these gifts
by raising $28,000 by June 30th.

Please send a check marked Capital Campaign 2019, or donate online  today! If you have any questions, speak to Nick or Nancy, campaign co-chairs. Our deadline is June 30, 2019.  You won’t get a tote bag or some other token; just the satisfaction that you have helped to sustain St. Paul's into the future.

No gift is too large or too small.  Remember that some employers will match your donation.  You are also encouraged to spread the word in your community, and reach out to family and friends.  All help is welcome.

TRIP TO THE HOLY LAND

Twelve of your fellow parishioners, including Fr. Wallace, have committed to St. Paul’s pilgrimage to the Holy Land, January 20th―29th, 2020.  Won’t you join us?!  Please see the poster in the Parish Hall and the flyers on the back table for details. This is an extraordinary opportunity for experience a life-changing event.  Please don’t miss it!  Ask Fr. Wallace or Nick Gjeca if you have any questions.

CONTACTING THE SEARCH COMMITTEE

In the course of the Search Committee presentation on the status and process of the rector search at the parish Annual Meeting on January 27, the Committee offered interested parishioners a tool to reach out to it regarding any concerns they might wish to voice related to the search. If you want to provide your suggestions or comments, please contact us at search@stpaulscarrollst.org.

PRAYERS FOR ST. PAUL’S DURING THE TRANSITION AND RECTOR SEARCH

As you read the Eblast each week, it is a good opportunity to take 30 seconds and offer a prayer for St. Paul’s during its transition and for the members of the Search Committee. Prayers to that effect will be included each week in the Eblast.

  • For St. Paul’s:
O God, by whom the meek are guided in judgment, and light riseth up in darkness for the godly: Grant us, we beseech thee, in all our doubts and uncertainties, the grace to ask what thou wouldest have us to do, that the Spirit of wisdom may save us from all false choices, and that in thy light we may see light,, and in thy straight path may not stumble; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
  • For the Search Committee:
Almighty God, giver of every good gift:  Look graciously on St. Paul’s, and so guide the minds of Keith, Monika, Anne, Michael, Willie, Julie, Cynthia, Ken, and Rob, and all those who shall call a rector for this parish, that they may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for thy people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
