THIS COMING WEEK

The Fourth Sunday after Pentecost, June 21, 2015

  • SUNDAY'S APPOINTED MASS READINGS: Job 38:1-11; Mark 4:35-41; Preaching: the Rector.
  • MANY KINDS OF HELP ALWAYS APPRECIATED:  If  you cannot spend time down at the church helping on our summer work projects, consider sending out the Pop-up Auction, and Gofundme links (see below) to your family and friends.  For example, if you have friends with tots, call their attention to the Pop-up Auction item of a $650 pass to Kidville!  They might get a good deal if they are the highest bidder.  And please try to keep up your pledge donations—things are “tight”, to say the least.

SUMMERTIME OUTREACH

  • FOOD DRIVE:  Throughout the summer months, bins to receive non-perishable food items are placed in the rear of the church.  Items collected will help restock the pantry shelves of First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn Heights.
  • FREE CONCERT: Friday, June 19, 8:00 p.m.  Seniors of the Eileen Dugan Senior Center have been invited to attend the closing concert of the Choral Chameleon Summer Institute.  Parishioners may also attend free of charge.  This concert features new works composed by rising composers, and classical choral works directed by rising directors who have been working here over the past week.  It is always an exciting and inspiring event.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Summertime activities – Mark your calendars:

  • “Live” now!—SUMMER 2015 POP UP Auction: The Annual Auction will be held as always; this year on November 7, 2015. In the meantime, please help us try out a new way to fundraise!  Use your computer or smartphone to go to http:www.biddingowl.com/StPaulsEpiscopal where you will be able to view our catalog of items & services up for bid. The bidding will close at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18.  Check in often to see any newly added items and to raise your bids, if necessary! All proceeds from our POP-UP Auction will go to St. Paul’s Summer Projects.
  • CHOOSE A TEAM: GET INSPIRED.  Did you choose a team yet?  We are hoping everyone will participate in some way.  There are 4 Teams:  Basement, Kitchen, Rectory, and Exterior.  For more information about each team's project and the many ways you can help, check out www.gofundme.com/stpauls
  • COLD COVERED DISH LUNCH AFTER MASS—JUNE 28!  Yes, in our own Parish Hall we will hold a cold covered dish lunch. Team Kitchen will have removed the Parish Hall kitchen’s sink and portions of kitchen floor, making that workspace impossible to use.  THEREFORE, start thinking now of the great COLD DISH (as in not requiring heating on a stove, washing preparation, etc.) that you will bring and share with others.  And yes, the usual iced tea and lemonade will be served to wash it all down.  And bring a friend!
  • A GREAT OLD HYMN FEST will fill mass on Independence Day weekend.  Make plans to sing your favorite hymns on Sunday, July 5.
  • FERRAGOSTO ICE CREAM: In celebration of the Assumption of the BVM (August 15), special Italian ice-cream will be served after mass on August 16.
  • JAZZ@MASS SUNDAYS are planned for August 2, and September 27.
  • FALL RUMMAGE SALE: September 12.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Clinton & Carroll Streets, Brooklyn.
