THIS COMING WEEK

The Third Sunday after Pentecost, June 14, 2015

  • SUNDAY'S APPOINTED MASS READINGS: Ezekiel 17:22-24; Mark 4:26-34; Preaching: the Rev. Nell Archer
  • HOLY BAPTISM this Sunday:  God Willing, Penny Foulger will receive the Sacrament of Holy Baptism at this Sunday’s 10:00 o’clock mass.

SUMMERTIME OUTREACH

  • FOOD DRIVE:  Throughout the summer months, bins to receive non-perishable food items are placed in the rear of the church.  Items collected will help restock the pantry shelves of First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn Heights.
  • CONCERT FOR SENIORS:  Clients of our local Eileen Dugan Senior Citizen Center have been given free tickets to the next concert offered here at St. Paul’s.  On Friday evening, June 19, at 8:00 p.m.  Choral Chameleon’s singers will perform works composed by composition students of Chameleon’s annual Summer Institute, while conducting students of the Institute will direct works from the wider world of choral literature.  It is always exciting to hear the work of rising artists!  The concert is open to all.

THANKS EXTENDED

  • THANKS TO ALL WHO SUPPORTED OUR SPRING RUMMAGE SALE! We are grateful to announce earnings at $1,800.  For those of you who may have missed it, know that our Fall Rummage Sale is scheduled for September 12.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Summertime activities – Mark your calendars:

  • CHOOSE A TEAM: GET INSPIRED.  Did you choose a team yet?  We are hoping everyone will participate in some way.  There are 4 Teams:  Basement, Kitchen, Rectory, and Exterior.  For more information about each team's project and the many ways you can help, check out www.gofundme.com/stpauls
  • SUMMER 2015 POP UP Auction: The Annual Auction will be held as always; this year on November 7, 2015. In the meantime, please help us try out a new way to fundraise!  Beginning Sunday June 14, at 2:00 p.m., you can use your computer or smartphone to go to http:www.biddingowl.com/StPaulsEpiscopal where you will be able to view our catalog of items & services up for bid. The bidding will close at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18.  Check in often to see any newly added items and to raise your bids, if necessary! All proceeds from our POP-UP Auction will go to St. Paul’s Summer Projects.
  • COLD COVERED DISH LUNCH AFTER MASS—JUNE 28!  Yes, in our own Parish Hall we will hold a cold covered dish lunch.  We don’t know if Team Kitchen will have removed the Parish Hall sink, or if the kitchen floor will be under repair, making the workspace impossible to use.  THEREFORE, start thinking now of the great COLD DISH (as in not requiring heating on a stove, washing preparation, etc.) that you will bring and share with others.  And yes, the usual iced tea and lemonade will be served to wash it all down.  And bring a friend!
  • A GREAT OLD HYMN FEST will fill mass on Independence Day weekend.  Make plans to sing your favorite hymns on Sunday, July 5.
  • FERRAGOSTO ICE CREAM – In celebration of the Assumption of the BVM (August 15), special Italian ice-cream will be served after mass on August 16.
  • JAZZ@MASS SUNDAYS are planned for August 2, and September 27.
