THE PARISH PICNIC FOLLOWS MASS this Sunday, July 12! Once again, our Parish Picnic will be held out at the lovely campus of Brooklyn Poly Prep School in Bay Ridge. Rides will be available to and from Poly Prep. You are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs to sit on, and drinks to drink and food to share off our ‘covered dish picnic table.’ Grills, paper goods, utensils, and ice will be provided by the parish. Driving directions: take 4th Avenue south to 92nd Street, make a left and follow 92nd until you must make a right hand turn. Poly Prep’s grounds will be on your right, enter at an open gate. Subway directions: take the R train south to the last stop; exit the rear of the train. Walk east on 92nd until you come to the Poly Prep grounds on your right. Any questions? Please phone the parish office at 718-625-4126
FOOD DRIVE: Throughout the summer months, bins to receive non-perishable food items are placed in the rear of the church. Items collected will help restock the pantry shelves of First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn Heights.
MUSIC FOR SENIORS report: Vince Peterson, our parish musician, provided the first of two summertime afternoon entertainments to the clients of our local Eileen Dugan Senior Citizen Center on Court Street. Reports tell of a smashing success.
PARISH HALL USE BY-AND-FOR OUR WIDER COMMUNITY: Even while Team Kitchen is knee-deep in the repair of our kitchen facilities, the Parish Hall continues to provide space to our whole community. In addition to 10 regularly scheduled meetings per week, our space is also used on 2nd Sunday afternoons for a Sacred Harp Sing, and for occasional one-time community events such as Community Board 6’s widely advertised forum to discuss solar energy options for local residences. For more information, check their website at www.solarizebrooklyncb6.com. And on Thursday evening, August 6, the Parish Hall will be the “hot spot” for Choral Chameleon’s community-wide invitation sing. This summer’s featured sing-a-long work will be Ramirez’s fabulous Missa Criolla. For more information check out their website at www.choralchameleon.com
