UPCOMING SPECIAL SUMMERTIME EVENTS

  • Fall Rummage Sale!  Saturday, September 10th, 10:00 to 2:00  Start ridding your apartment of all those too-good-to-be-tossed items by bringing them down to the Church anytime on or after August 28.  Volunteer to help set up the sale items on Thursday and/or Friday evenings, September 8 & 9, or to help during the sale on the 10th.  Extra points go to any who will help us clean up after the sale—cleanup begins at 2:00, and usually is finished by 3:30!  MARK your calendars!  TELL you friends and enemies to come buy stuff!  Proceeds will go to Episcopal Charities.
  • Covered Dish Lunch after mass—Celebrating “Doris-Day” on September 18!  St. Paul’s most long-time parishioner, Doris Williams, is excited to be the official hostess of “Doris Day at St. Paul’s”, when mass will be followed NOT by stale gingersnaps and weak iced tea, but by one of our fabulous Covered Dish lunches.  The days will still be warm, so bring only a cold or room temperature dish to be shared with fellow parishioners.  Doris-Day-Sunday will kickoff Stewardship Season, and we can’t wait to celebrate the life and ministry of Doris Williams who for over a half-century has inspired us all not only by her exuberant church hats, but by her volunteer service, regular devotion, and her long commitment to the generations of children she has brought, and continues to bring to mass with her.  At lunch some  “how to get involved in St. Paul’s” information will be shared with all.  So, bring friends and a hearty appetite too!  And since it will be Doris’ special “Doris Day at St. Paul’s” she encourages us all to think about wearing a “church hat”.  (The Rector wont let men wear their hats during mass, but will look aside if they chose to wear them at the lunch table!)

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

  • The Stewardship Committee is looking for volunteers to assist in the 2017 pledge drive.  Work will begin in August, and heat up in October.  Responsibilities will include collaborating in planning the campaign, helping to develop the materials used in the drive (appeals letters, mailing lists, etc.), assisting in mailings and other correspondence, tracking and reporting on pledges, and lining up testimonials.  If interested, please email Doug Munson at dmunson11217@gmail.com.
