THIS COMING WEEK

The Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost, August 30, 2015

  • SUNDAY'S APPOINTED MASS READINGS: Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9;  Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23; Preaching: The Rev. Nell B. Archer.

SUMMERTIME OUTREACH

  • FOOD DRIVE:  Throughout the summer months, bins to receive non-perishable food items are placed in the rear of the church.  Items collected will help restock the pantry shelves of First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn Heights.
  • COMMUNITY BOARD 6, SOLARIZE BROOKLYN - A CB 6 Special Projects Presentation:  September 8, exact (evening) time TBA.  CB6’s first presentation here was such a success that they have arranged this 2nd!  The information shared at this meeting pertains to the matter of solar panel energy possibilities for area Brooklyn properties.

SUMMERTIME TEAM UPDATES

  • TEAM KITCHEN:  Team Kitchen’s major work is done!  The old rotting floor has been replaced, a new counter top and sink have been installed.  Even the restroom has a new floor, sink, and changing station.  Now the “pretty” work of fresh paint can begin.
  • TEAM EXTERIOR:  Exterior work on our fence and wooden doors continues.  The doors are almost finished (one more coat), and an iron monger has fixed areas of broken fencing.  Some scraping, and painting has begun on the fencing.  The team will meet this Saturday starting at 10:00.  If you’d like to help, please contact Doug Munson at dmunson11217@gmail,com.
  • TEAM BASEMENT:  The major work is done!  Much of the garbage and trash has been removed, and important items have been organized on shelves arranged according to the various groupings of items and the groups that use them.  Team Basement now has a threefold focus: 1) preparation for the Sept. 12 Rummage Sale, 2) final cleaning and organizing, and 3) keeping watch that we continually keep it clean, safe, and orderly!
  • WHILE WORK IS IN PROGRESS the Hall and Church continue to be used daily for parish and community-service meetings.  The only thing “lagging behind” is donations!  Please encourage your family and friends to help this team meet its goal in order that St. Paul’s may better serve.
  • CHOOSE A TEAM: GET INSPIRED.  Did you choose a team yet?  We are hoping everyone will participate in some way.  There are 4 Teams:  Basement, Kitchen, Rectory, and Exterior.  For more information about each team's project and the many ways you can help, check out www.gofundme.com/stpauls
