THIS WEEKEND AT ST. PAUL’S

Final Preparations for Holy Week

  • All hands on deck this Saturday!  St. Paul’s daily operation depends mostly upon the volunteer contributions and efforts of its parishioners.  A congregation-wide deep cleaning of our buildings is held every year on the Saturday before Holy Week—this year, this Saturday, April 8.   There is a job for people of all abilities and all ages.  Two-hour timeslot tasks begin at 9:30 and end by 3:00.  If you have not yet signed up, please inform the parish office at 718-625-4126, or info@stpaulscarrollst.org
  • Photo ID Board—more picture taking!   During Coffee Hour this Sunday, April 9, (Palm Sunday), our great parish photographer will be here to take photos of all those whose pictures are not yet up on our very useful Parish Hall Photo ID board.  If your picture is not yet there, or if you would like an updated photo made (for example, to include a new addition to your family), please plan to come and have a truly excellent photographer of amazingly flattering portraits take your snapshot!
  • Easter Flower Donations.  This is the last Sunday for donations help in decorating the church for the Easter Feast.  Flower Donation Envelopes will be included in Palm Sunday’s bulletin, or you may send in your contribution to the parish office no later than Monday, April 10.  Please PRINT the names of those you would like to have printed in the Easter Day bulletin, and not if they are departed or still living (memorials or thanksgivings).  Thanks.
  • Non-perishable Food Drive:  This is the final Sunday to bring offerings of non-perishable food items which the Sunday School students will take to stock the shelves of the Food Pantry at First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn Heights.  Our students tell us that we are WAY BEHIND in our donations!  People are hungry!  Receiving-bins are located in the rear of the nave.

HOLY WEEK MASS SCHEDULE

  • Palm Sunday, April 9:  Liturgy at 11:00 a.m.
  • Holy Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday: Morning Prayer at 7:30 a.m.
  • Maundy Thursday, April 13:  Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:30 p.m.
  • Good Friday, April 14:  The Good Friday Liturgy at Noon; Stations of the Cross for families with young children at 5:30 p.m.
  • Holy Saturday / Easter Eve, April 15:  The Great Vigil of Easter, with the Liturgy of Light, the Liturgy of the Word, Holy Baptism, and first Mass of Easter, at 7:30 p.m. Following the Vigil there will be a festive repast to break the Lenten Fast and refresh liturgy worn bodies!
  • Easter Day, April 16:  Solemn Mass at 11:00 a.m. followed by our most festive Coffee Hour of the year.  Because we have an exceptionally large crowd on Easter Day, all parishioners are encouraged to bring something for the table of refreshments—but remember, the event is run by worshipers who can’t work during mass, so please bring only prepared finger-food type treats that do not need heating, cutting, etc.

UPCOMING EASTERTIDE OPPORTUNITIES

  • Third Friday Dinner for Charity:  Help support outreach to Episcopal Ministries of Long Island, by attending the Supper for Charity on April 21.  April’s dinner will be held during Easter Week—be prepared to feast and leave the dirty dishes behind.  Your entrance will help St. Paul’s give beyond our own walls.  Bring friends!  $5 child, $15 adult, $30 family max.
  • Light Lunch after Low Mass on Low Sunday, April 23: Next on our parish’s encounter with issues of Racial Justice & Reconciliation.  Mark your calendars now!  Come to mass, come to eat lunch, come to learn and share at this relaxed opportunity for all those many who attended one of our parish-wide home discussions of Racism and Reconciliation.
